Cavemen lost the lead late in a 17-12 defeat to Skyridge on Thursday. The game was tied at nine with Skyridge batting in the top of the sixth when Kadynce Barnes singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.
Kylee Luci drove in four runners in the loss. Luci drove in runs on a grand slam in the second.
Cavemen opened up an early lead in the second inning when Luci homered on a 3-2 count, scoring four runs.
Skyridge scored six runs in the seventh inning. Skyridge’s big inning was driven by singles by Brightyn Turner, Heather Berrett, Barnes, and Irma Medina.
Berrett was credited with the victory for Skyridge. The pitcher went five and a third innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out 11 and walking one. Berrett recorded the last 16 outs to earn the save for Skyridge.
Audree Bellus took the loss for Cavemen. The righthander allowed seven hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out one.
Elliot Plewe started the game for Skyridge. Plewe lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out three Maegan Barney started the game for Cavemen. The pitcher went two innings, allowing five runs on five hits and walking one
Cavemen socked one home run on the day. Luci had a long ball in the second inning.
Cavemen tallied 12 hits in the game. Luci, Marae Decker, Jane Rubert, and Bellus each collected multiple hits for Cavemen. Decker and Luci each managed three hits to lead Cavemen.
Skyridge collected 16 hits. Medina, Barnes, Plewe, Turner, and Berrett each had multiple hits for Skyridge.
