Cavemen watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 23-8 loss to Pleasant Grove on Thursday. Pleasant Grove took the lead on a home run in the first inning.
Cavemen collected nine hits and Pleasant Grove had 17 in the high-scoring affair.
Pleasant Grove got on the board in the first inning. H Walker drove in two when Walker homered.
Cavemen scored five runs in the third inning. Brittany Fryer, Audree Bellus, and Tea Fowler each had RBIs in the big inning.
Pleasant Grove scored 12 runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught by Pleasant Grove was led by Z Rose, K Phelon, K Justus, A Dicsen, Rose, and Walker, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Rose was the winning pitcher for Pleasant Grove. The bulldog went five innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits and striking out two.
Bellus took the loss for Cavemen. The righty lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and nine runs.
Marae Decker started the game for Cavemen. Decker allowed ten hits and 11 runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one
Pleasant Grove hit four home runs on the day. Rose put one out in the fifth inning. H Youmg went for the long ball in the third inning. Walker went yard in the first inning. J Burdette went deep in the second inning.
Cavemen racked up nine hits in the game. Jane Rubert and Fryer each racked up multiple hits for Cavemen. Rubert led Cavemen with three hits in four at bats.
Pleasant Grove tallied 17 hits on the day. Walker, Dicsen, Rose, Youmg, B Fisher, and Phelon all managed multiple hits for Pleasant Grove. Walker went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Pleasant Grove in hits.
