Cavemen watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-0 loss to Springville on Saturday. Springville took the lead on a single in the first inning.
The Cavemen struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Springville, giving up 12 runs.
Springville opened up scoring in the first inning, when S Ewing singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
One bright spot for Cavemen was a single by Audree Bellus in the first inning.
M Thomas was credited with the victory for Springville. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on four hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Bellus took the loss for Cavemen. The righty went two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on six hits.
Springville socked three home runs on the day. E Liddiard had a long ball in the fourth inning. M Dustin had a four bagger in the third inning. B Zajac had a homer in the third inning.
Marae Decker, Bellus, Tea Fowler, and Kylee Luci each collected one hit to lead Cavemen.
Springville scattered 11 hits in the game. Zajac, K Cheff, and Dustin all collected multiple hits for Springville. Springville didn’t commit a single error in the field. Dustin had the most chances in the field with six.
